Topgolf- Family Friendly Las Vegas

| July 4, 2017 | 0 Comments

A family friendly Las Vegas can be challenging when traveling with young children. If you’re staying a few days or just passing through the reality is, there is only a few family friendly spots that are overpriced or overcrowded. Then you’re stuck with the question, ” What do we do?”

With Las Vegas being a 3 hour drive for me, I try to get out at their at least once a month. If I’m not on the strip hitting the casinos and pubs, I’m visiting friends who live there. I’ve always felt Las Vegas strip to be an adult destination so unless I’m visiting my friend, the children stay behind.  I however have a choice on whether to leave my children home or not but what about the visitors who don’t have that option?

Within the last few times I’ve traveled to Las Vegas I have noticed a few spots pop up that promotes a family friendly Las Vegas, some more expensive than others. One of them being a place called Topgolf which was to my surprise very price efficient!  I’m really excited as this will be our first time bringing the children with us without the thought of just wandering around the town wondering what to do.

Topgolf inspires the connections that bring people together for unforgettable good times. Whether it’s a date night, girls’ night, family friendly outing, happy hour, work breakfast, lunch hour or any other kind of hour, Topgolf makes socializing a sport – literally. TopGolf is located at the MGM Grand Hotel and Casino. Not in the actual casino but on the MGM property. It’s a trek if you’re walking through the front of the hotel from the strip as Topgolf is not attached. If you’re coming from another hotel and you’re taking transportation, you will  be dropped off in front of the Topgolf entrance. You also have the option to drive yourself as there is plenty of free parking.

We decided to take the children in the morning when they first opened to beat the Las Vegas heat and the possible late afternoon crowd. We were greeted by a friendly staff who assisted checking us in and get us the clubs that suits our needs. We had to use a variety of clubs as some of us are left handed and not only that we needed adult and junior size clubs. The staff was really helpful with that.

Depending on the time you arrive and the day can impact how busy it is, obviously it will be more busy at night on a weekend. Luckily they are open from 9 a.m. to 2 a.m. so you can enjoy playtime at your convenience. The hourly price of the bay determines on the time and day you go. Prices can range from $30 t0 $75 an hour for up to 6 people per bay. That price is slightly higher if you want to be on the 3rd or 4th floor. Also, every player needs to purchase a $5 life time membership card which can be used at any Topgolf location.

The ambiance of Topgolf is amazing! Each of their bays are climate-controlled with private sectioned seating. So when it’s 120 out side it’s stays surprisingly cool with misters. If it’s chilly outside, you will be warmed by space heaters above the bay. They really went above and beyond their customer needs during seasons to make sure their guests are comfortable. I really like that each bay gets assigned a personal waiter to come and serve you amazing food and drinks while you play which BTW is reasonably priced! I loved that our waitress was on point by keeping our waters full and made sure we were comfortable at all times. She was also very helpful when we needed assistance with setting up the game when we first arrived. I mean, can you say spoiled and fun at the same time!

The game itself is interactive and keeps score and will track the accuracy and distance of your shots through microchipped golf balls. You can choose between a variety of games to keep your little ones entertained. The kids had a blast choosing the games that peaked their interest. The first two games we played single player. The last game we played we choose to play in teams which was really fun!

Topgolf offers 4 levels of fun and is open to entertainment enthusiast of all ages and skill level. Levels 1 & 2 offer all
ages access, Levels 3 & 4 are for guests 21+. I prefer the top two levels but since I had children I had to stay lower. If you have to wait your turn for your bay to open you can enjoy a drink at the bar in their lounge area, play games or just people watch. Luckily we didn’t have to wait and got right in!

If you want to do more than just golf or just sore from your bad posture during your session, you have the option to rent a cabana and swim in not one, but two amazing pools that sits near the bays on the upper level.  Sadly, this is only open to adults and we were not allowed to take a peek with the children.

Topgolf also brings interactive experiences to the community through Topgolf U golf lessons, seasonal leagues, The Topgolf Tour competition, KidZone parties, social and corporate team-building events, and the World Golf Tour (WGT) app. We’ll be coming back soon to this family friendly location! Looks like we have a pro on our hands!
